Gothenburg-based bassist and songwriter Jacob Öhrvall is back with his third album, “Kultur och fritid” (“Culture and Leisure”). His previous record, the excellent “Hjärnan av och smajlet på” (“Brain Off and Smile On”), earned him the Newcomer of the Year award at the 2023 Manifest Gala.

Jacob’s music draws inspiration from ’90s indie, where everything from distorted bass and arpeggiated synths to Madchester grooves blends into something that feels both playful and thoughtfully crafted. With lyrics that perfectly balance irony and sharpness, he has emerged as one of the most compelling voices in Swedish indie.
