Neil Young – Old Ways CD (2026) - Brand New - Audio CD (Quick Ship)

Old Ways captures Neil Young at one of his most stubbornly honest crossroads. Originally released in the mid‑80s, it found him turning away from arena rock and back toward the dust, twang, and steel of classic country. This 2026 CD edition gives the record a fresh listen, revealing how much care sits in its songwriting and arrangements.

You can hear Young wrestling with age, faith, and responsibility in a way that feels lived‑in rather than polished. The songs lean on pedal steel, fiddle, and acoustic guitar, but his unmistakable voice keeps it from ever becoming genre cosplay. Instead, Old Ways plays like a letter to the American countryside—affectionate, skeptical, and full of hard‑earned memories.

For collectors, this is a key piece of Young’s famously wayward 80s run, a period when he refused to repeat himself even if it baffled labels and radio. For listeners, it’s a quietly absorbing album that rewards late‑night, start‑to‑finish plays. If you’re building out a serious Neil Young shelf, or you’re drawn to the meeting point of country storytelling and rock iconoclasm, this CD belongs in your stack.
