Robert Glasper – Double Booked - Brand New - Vinyl LP Record (Quick Ship)

“Double Booked” captures Robert Glasper right at the moment he becomes impossible to file under any single corner of jazz. Split between his acoustic trio and the Robert Glasper Experiment, the album feels like two overlapping chapters of the same story: one rooted in Blue Note tradition, the other leaning hard into hip-hop, neo-soul, and head‑nodding groove.

On the trio side, Glasper’s touch is lyrical but restless, twisting familiar swing into elastic shapes, with the rhythm section constantly reshaping the ground beneath him. Flip to the Experiment tracks and the palette widens: Fender Rhodes, thick bass lines, and subtle electronics open the door to guests like Mos Def (Yasiin Bey) and Bilal, blurring the edge between jazz club and late‑night studio session.

This is a perfect buy if you love jazz that respects the past but refuses to stay there. The sequencing plays like a conversation between eras, making it a rewarding front‑to‑back listen on vinyl. For collectors, “Double Booked” documents Glasper before “Black Radio” made him a crossover name, catching his sound in thrilling motion—unpolished, adventurous, and full of future signals.
