Shehnai - Bismillah Khan Used Vinyl LP Record

This 1969 His Master's Voice pressing of “Shehnai” by Ustad Bismillah Khan feels like opening a carefully kept family heirloom. The record sits in Very Good condition, with grooves that still carry that unmistakable reedy glow of his shehnai, while the sleeve in Very Good Minus shows light, honest wear from half a century of careful handling. Spin it, and the room instantly changes—temple courtyards, quiet mornings, and All India Radio memories all seem a little closer.

This isn’t background music; it’s the sound of a master taking his time with every phrase, filling the space between notes with breath and devotion. Original HMV titles from this era don’t stay in clean shape for long, and copies that still play this smoothly are getting harder to track down. If you’ve been meaning to add a cornerstone of Indian Classical to your shelf, this is one of those records that quietly becomes the one you reach for again and again.
