John Lennon

John Winston Lennon was born in Liverpool in October 1940 and raised by his Aunt Mimi after early family upheavals. He formed the skiffle group the Quarrymen as a teenager, which evolved into The Beatles when Paul McCartney joined in 1957. The Beatles would go on to become a cultural and musical phenomenon, propelled in large part by Lennon's emotionally raw lyrics and innovative spirit. Musically, Lennon’s style was rooted in early rock & roll and beat music, but he ventured into more experimental territory with psychedelia and studio innovation. He contributed greatly to The Beatles’ evolution, penning introspective classics like “Strawberry Fields Forever” and “In My Life,” songs that reflected personal memory and artistic daring.
