Why Collect Bollywood Vinyl Records?
Hindi film music vinyl from the HMV era has a warmth and intimacy that no streaming service can replicate. These recordings were made by orchestras of 100+ musicians recording live to analogue tape, and the vinyl preserves that energy directly. When you play an original first-press R.D. Burman HMV LP, you are hearing exactly what the engineer heard in the studio in 1973.
Many of these recordings also contain masters that have never been properly digitized — subtle details in the orchestration, background harmonics, and room acoustics that are simply absent from streaming versions. Collecting Bollywood vinyl is also an act of preservation: protecting this musical heritage before these records are lost forever.
